ICACI to showcase new technologies for efficient management & sustenance of India’s infrastructure
India Chapter of American Concrete Institute (ICACI), one of the very active Chapters of American Concrete Institute (ACI), USA is organising an important International Conference on ‘Repairs, Retrofitting and Forensic Engineering of Built Structures’ on 24th and 25th November 2017 at Hotel Lalit, Mumbai.
The seminar will focus on the latest developments in concrete repair, rehabilitation, retrofitting and forensic engineering techniques through both research papers and case studies.
ACI is graciously hosting this International event and many other technical bodies have offered their support. The ACI President, Mr. Khaled Walid Awad, who will be flagging off the event, commented, “As we are all aware, modern-day concrete infrastructure is seen to deteriorate at unacceptable rates posing new challenges to the engineering fraternity. We need suitable and cost-effective tools to undertake the repair and rehabilitation of such infrastructure. At the same time we also need forensic engineering techniques which can evolve ways to avoid the deterioration of built structures.
“I encourage everyone concerned with this important subject to attend the conference. I myself look forward to attending it and learning of new technological advances to increase the service life of concrete structures.”
Who should attend?

Conference Convenor and renowned Consulting Structural & Civil Engineer, Mr. Satish Dhupelia, added: “Rapid deterioration of our infrastructure due to poor design, inferior materials and construction is a major challenge facing our engineering community. It calls for a much-needed addressal and emphasis to the core issues, and a multi-disciplinary effort in research and development.
“New durability design methods, forensic engineering, sensing technologies and appropriate construction materials and the right type of construction chemicals can help to address some of these issues. Our conference covers a broad spectrum of topics. It is our endeavour that every delegate returns from the conference enlightened and better informed of scientific and technological advances in infrastructure repairs and retrofitting.”
