Students exchange concrete ideas with ACI India Director, Mr. Satish Dhupelia

Mr. Satish Dhupelia, Consulting Structural & Civil Engineer, and head of ACI India’s Student Chapter programme recently visited the Marwadi Education Foundation, Rajkot, to interact with students of the institute.

The Department of Civil Engineering at Marwadi Education Foundation’s Group of Institutions (MEFGI) hosts the ACI India Student Chapter in which 100 students are registered.

Mr. Dhupelia visited the campus, civil engineering laboratories and interacted with students and faculty members. The interactive session was spirited, and bubbling with student energy and enthusiasm. During this session, Mr. Dhupelia emphasised the need to focus on future activities of the chapter and in this context it was suggested that training programmes for civil engineering contractors should be conducted at the MEFGI student chapter.

He also encouraged students to take up the challenges of the modern and fast growing civil engineering field by enriching themselves with technical knowledge abundantly available through ACI portals.

The visit was coordinated by Prof. Tarak Vora, Prof. Mazhar Dhankot and Dr. Ankur Bhogayata, Advisor ACI India Student Chapter at MEFGI.

As Former President of ACI India, Mr. Dhupelia was pivotal in the establishment and progress of ACI India Student Chapters all over India. Each ACI India Student Chapter aims to encourage student’s interest in the study of concrete. In line with this, student chapter activities revolve around technical seminars, workshops and skill training in the field of concrete technology.

The ACI India Student Chapter at MEFGI recently organized a two-day workshop titled ‘Making cement-free concrete’ in which over 50 students participated and were awarded certificates.
