Students Make a Splash at the International Repairs Conference

Brimming with energy and enthusiasm, students from different parts of India, have made a splash at the ongoing International Conference on Repairs, Retrofitting and Forensic Engineering of Built Structures organised by the India Chapter.

The students were part of month-long twin competitions organised by the India Chapter in multiple nodal centres across several Indian cities.

The twin competitions involved the very popular and highly-participated Concrete Cube Test Competition 2017 and an All India Essay Competition.

Nodal centres included:

  • Kongu Engineering College, Erode, Tamil Nadu
  • Sanjay Ghodawat Group of Institutions, Kolhapur
  • Marwadi Education Foundation Group of Institutions, Rajkot
  • Shri Bhagubhai Mafatlal Polytechnic College, Mumbai

Each nodal centre became the hub for neighbouring engineering/ technical colleges, drumming publicity for the competition and thereby inviting scores of participants.

The presence of students at the event was appreciated by all attending engineers, experts, consultants and contractors, particularly because these students were in the midst of their half-year exams and had travelled to Mumbai despite this.

Proud parents of some of the students also travelled thousands of kilometres to attend their child’s felicitation ceremony in Mumbai at the hands of the American Concrete Institute President, Mr. Khaled Walid Awad.

Besides the students, the contribution of their mentors and Head of Departments was also recognised by President Awad.

Post the awards ceremony, students thronged towards President Awad for photographs.
