Erode, Tamil Nadu, India – Nandha Engineering College joins the growing list of Student Chapters of ICACI (India Chapter of American Concrete Institute) following its official inauguration at the hands of Mr. Satish Dhupelia, Head of ICACI’s Student Chapter Programme as well as its Past President.

The official banner from American Concrete Institute (ACI), USA, was presented by Mr. Dhupelia to Mr. S. Thirumoorthi, Secretary and Dr. N. Rengarajan, Principal of Nandha Engineering College, marking the formal inauguration of this latest Student Chapter.

Nandha Engineering College is the second college to have a Student Chapter in District Erode, the first being Kongu Engineering College which was inaugurated around 8 months ago. The short time frame between the two inaugurations signals a growing interest from this district for ICACI’s student programmes.

ICACI believes a meaningful education goes far beyond learning in the classroom. Effective interpersonal, communication and leadership skills are as important as theoretical knowledge. Thus every year, various competitions, activities, programmes are organised by ICACI with an aim to nurture students’ overall development.

In his interaction with the students, Mr. Dhupelia explained in detail ICACI activities planned for this year as well as complimentary benefits/privileges available to students who become members of the parent body ACI.

He stated: “I thank the students and faculty of Nandha Engineering College for giving me such a warm welcome. With the inauguration of a student chapter at your college, I encourage the students to participate in the various programmes and competition that ICACI will be soon rolling out. It is through these programmes that young, budding engineers can attain knowledge on the one hand while also displaying their creative ideas for concrete material on the other hand.”

Concluding his speech Mr Dhupelia said: “I strongly urge all students to learn something new every day, and to do things while you all are still young, bright and energetic.”

Students and faculty members alike were left enthused and motivated by Mr. Dhupelia’s talk.
