STUDENT CHAPTER MEMBERS OF ICACI UNDERTAKE SUCCESSFUL ON-SITE STUDY TOUR

Student Chapter members of ICACI undertake successful on-site study tour

As India heightens its focus on infrastructure development, student chapter members of ICACI at Sanjay Ghodawat Group of Institutions (SGI), Kolhapur, intensify their efforts to gain practical knowledge from such infrastructure works.

Study tours undertaken by this active chapter are increasing. The group has successfully wrapped up an intense on-site study tour of elevated flyovers, road-widening programmes, cable-stayed bridge and concrete mix plants.

Pile driving up to 28-30 metres deep, pre-stress of ‘I’ girders, operation, design and safety aspects were explained to an eager batch of engineering students.

The visit to a concrete mix plant gave students an insight into the:-

      • process of making good quality concrete,
      • automatic weighing balance of concrete ingredients,
      • storage of cementious materials,
      • working of the transit mixer.

The above was further strengthened with a visit to the concrete technology laboratory. Here students understood the importance of periodical checking of the quality of various ingredients of concrete.

The students were very grateful for the arrangements made and permissions granted by GAMMON India Pvt. Ltd., Larsen & Toubro Ltd. India and TPF Engineering Pvt. Ltd., enabling their tour to be educative, insightful and successful.
